It was an interesting visit with minimal English translation in a slim booklet. Highly recommend that this worthwhile museum seriously consider having the same audio translation service offered at Le Bunker who added this service recently. It would’ve greatly enhanced my visit and understanding of...More

This is a pleasant museum were you can see some old ships, namely a very interesting weather ship that was on station on the North Atlantic until the 1980s. They also have some very beautiful vintage yachts.

The museum is actually on board the ship. The way round is well signposted and you move from room to room to experience what life was like on board. The cabins look as though they are still occupied by the crew - rather Marie Celeste...More

In the evening the main boat attraction in the Musée Maritime (France 1) turns into a lovely bar venue. A lovely break from the hedonism of downtown La Rochelle.

An interesting museum illustrating the maritime history of La Rochelle, concentrating on the fishing industry. There are many well constructed model ships which i think are manufactured in the workshops at the rear. This is followed by visits to 3 ships, firstly the meteorological ship...More

The museum was easy to locate and the young lady on the reception spoke English which was a bonus sadly all the information was in French only. There is so much to see that it is spread over building and ships. There are sections that...More

We visited this maritime museum and the meterological ship in the morning (on Easter Sunday), as a family of 8 (three generations) and it was a very enjoyable visit. There was also a workshop with different activities (learning different rope knots, puzzles, a game that...More

I'm not sure. I didn't see any one with a dog but that doesn't mean they don't allow them. I think it would be a bit impractical as there is a lot of narrow corridors and rooms. Hope that helps.
