Saumur is rightly known as one of the worlds leading tank museums. With a superb selection of vehicles including many unusual or unique examples. World war 1 and the cold war are particularly well covered. Sadly the museum is looking a little worn these days...More

So some people will think I'm being sexist, but unfortunately it's true. The wife had zero interest in visiting this museum, although she may have found it interesting. There were a few women there, but they all looked very, very bored. I think 'men and...More

This was one of the highlights of my trip. They have an excellent collection of WW2 German armour including a king tiger. Lots of panzers. Working ZSU 23-4. Great museum, probably only require 3 hours maximum.

Great Tank Museum not as crowded as the Tank Museum in Bovington. It was good to see them put into their country of use. Bit of a travel from where we stayed but well worth it in the end. The staff were friendly and I...More

Don’t miss it under any circumstances !! Worth three hours at least. The WW I hall is nice, the WW II fantastic. Good explanations in French, German and English everywhere and the rest (USA, contemporaneous, etc) equally great. Plenty of Russian tanks too. Donald Trump should...More

This is heaven for military history buffs like myself. The collection is huge, from all major tank-producing countries. Entry is 8€50 and it's well worth it. Don't miss taking a look at the numerous hulks outside that are waiting restoration. Kids appreciate the three armored...More
