This is one of those Art Galleries not to be missed. Easily overlooked but it's dedicated to a great sculptor of many works that we are familiar with not only in Europe but worldwide during a great period of history.

The museum was full of the works of just one sculptor, David of Angers, and his work was amazing. From huge statues to busts, medallions and drawings it was all wonderful, and in such a lovely setting of an old church with its roof replaced...More

This exhibition given its entry via the Beaux Artes museum (or the street) should be included as a joint entry or at a reduced rate if you have been to one or the other. If you do enough travelling in Europe you will see many...More

We are so disappointed that you did not entirerly appreciated the museums... Too bad that you didn't take the combined ticket : 15€ for the 5 museums and the castle (that's a good deal!)

The gallery is not a big one, but it is packed with so many sculptures and drawings that you are overwhelmed. They are all models of sculptures having been made for being placed elsewhere, and there are good explanations when they were made and where...More

I'd never heard of David dAngers so to visit the exhibition was a revelation; the man was prolific, extremely talented and the setting for the work on display here is just superb.

In the centre of Angers is this gallery in an old abbey showing some of the casts David d'Angers made for his large commissions. They are amazing. You can also see some of his medallions and drawings.

Like the Jean-Lurcat museum, this gallery is sited in a medieval buildings: this time a 12th century abbey church in the centre of the city. The church fell into ruin but in 1984 it was restored and, daringly, a glass roof was added: this all...More

With entrances you could easily miss one of them, not from the castle, the entrance is through an old stone arch. The other entrance is a bright modern glass affair. Inside you will astounded by the detail of the statues and work pieces. The artists...More
