During my studies, I used to frequent the cathedral everyday. It is a lively and breathtaking place outside but inside is a dream. No shortage of detail to see with regards to architecture. If you are visiting in the winter months and attending mass, make...More

Hello. I am from Russia and I would like to tell you about my trip to this great place. I visited Ruan in the end of June 2017 and, unfortunately, the cathedral was closed. It was on a restoration that time. Anyway, the view was...More

This cathedral has spectacular architecture with sculpted details. Your camera won't stop! Rouen is also the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake and there is a stain glass window in the cathedral to commemorate that. There are numerous stain glass windows...More

Whether you're Catholic or not, you'll always want to visit the Cathedrals. The Cathedrals in Europe, in my humble opinion, are where the absolute best architecture is to be found. France, of course, has an enormous amount of Cathedrals and historic churches. Cathedrale Notre-Dame de...More

The cathedral is huge and stunning both inside and out. Spend time inside finding out how the cathedral was restored after being damaged during WW2. Free to enter.

The cathedral at Rouen is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture that was badly damaged by the bombing raids during WWII. It is still undergoing massive reconstruction and renovation to bring it back to its former glory. The Great Impressionist painter, Claude Monet, did a number...More

Exceptionally stonework on the main facade and indeed all over the exterior of this imposing cathedral. Inside the sheer scale can be properly appreciated. Not overly ornate, which allows the amazing architecture speak for itself. A few good stained glass windows.

This is the number one thing to do and see in Rouen. You have seen the cathedral before, since Monet did a bunch of paintings showing the front facade. Morning light, noon, evening--the front is spectacular. There was much damage in WWII, and there are...More

I have no idea... didn't even think about visiting the tombs, the cathedral is really amazing inside and outside, and one should see it at different times of the day, like Monet did... at twilight, at sunrise, midday, etc.

Ohhh!! I don't know but normally it's at 10 pm. You should ask in the tourism information point in front of the cathedral for more information. It's very beautiful the light show!! You shouldn't miss it. Tania.
