One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been on Earth. So spiritual. So peaceful. So special. Worth the 5 hour train ride and overnight stay from Paris.

I went to visit Our Lady's Grotto several times, it is so beautiful. Went to a Mass at the Shrine and it was packed, it is so lovely to just sit there and reflect

Returning pilgrim to the Grotto. Amazed at how well behaved the youngsters are who are helping out and also amazed at how noisy the other pilgrims are when praying not in their language, especially the French, Italians and Germans. Not very respectful for other pilgrims....More

Gritted is a special place with a great deal if religious significance. Well worth the visit even for those not there on pilgrimage.

If you enjoy run-down, tatty, 1950s towns with lots of semi-derelict buildings where the major tourist attractions look like they were designed by Liberace during a lapse of good taste, Lourdes is the place for you. Otherwise, don't get off the train!

The Grotte you should visit after 21h when the big tourist masses are already gone. You can pass the Grotte without spending a lot of time in the queue and beside the people are much more relaxed. At this hour you can really calm down.

after many visits to Lourdes and to the grotto, I'm always awed by the sense of belief. Ignore the commercialism and people selling tat. The thing about this place is the sense of overwhelming belief. People come because they believe. Irrespective of faith, colour, creed...More

But, unfortunately, it is impossible to go through the origin of the water since it is barred by glass wall.
