This is a lovely indoor market, open mornings only, in the centre of Avignon. It sells everything from olives to spices, herbs, fresh fish and seafood, fresh meat, patisserie, vegetables, fruits and cheese. The aromas as you wander around are fantastic. The vertical living wall...More

This indoor market is in a modern shopping complex which means that there is no architectural merit which there is in many of the traditional markets in other French provincial cities. There is a good range of suppliers and much of the produce is either...More

This is a ground floor indoor market, that is part of a modern shopping centre- not that you'd know! It is only open in the mornings until around 12/1pm but people start packing up before then. There are stands with meats, cheese, fruit and veg,...More

This is a traditional food market that is well worth a visit. There are a number of cafes in the market that serve excellent food at very reasonable prices. The food market opens most days of the year. It is the 'modern shopping mall' bit...More

As the title suggests, this is all you could hope to find from an indoor French market; fresh produce at its best and little eateries/cafes to boot. We visited here a number of times during our stay to get produce for our evening meals.

We always make a beeline to a town's Les Halles, and Nimes' is one we always like. In fact we often judge a town by its covered market. Over the years we have holidayed nearby and bought all our fresh food here go cook up...More
