The architecture of the building is fascinating. The interior art honors Napoleon and the armies of France with unique paintings and structures. It was used for many different venues including a catholic church once. The lower level is a mausoleum with the graves of prominent...More

La Madeleine is a gorgeous church built by Napoleon in the name of his troops. The structure is nice from external appearance while the internal parts are also worth to have a look while you are visiting this area.

I recently went on a trip to Paris and re-visited La Madeleine. The visit also rekindled a funny story about the art-nouveau public women’s restrooms that used to be available there. (They have now been closed for several years.) The restrooms were located between the...More

I highly recommend visiting La Madeleine, as its interior in gapingly beautiful without the crowds of Notre Dame.

I’ve been to Paris so many times that I simply lost count. I passed by la Madeleine often but had never set foot inside. This time I just wandered in and it was magnificent. I went twice to the church. There was a choir rehearsal...More

The outside of this church is truly imposing but it is not till you enter that you realize what a beauty she is. All in all, a stunning Greco house of worship.

We booked tickets for Mozart’s Requiem (there’s no need to buy in advance as the seating is unreserved and the venue is huge - half full at best - you can buy on the door). The church is beautiful and the atmosphere is lovely. From...More

La Madeleine or St Mary of Magdelene is a stunning Greek style tribute in Paris built for Napoleon. A church inside it is incredibly decorated and carved all very stunning. Well worth a visit as the outer facade is nothing compared to the inside.

Amidst the urban hassle, and surrounded by restaurant in works on the building and around, the Greek temple on the outside and working church inside is worthwhile when you are visiting Paris. In comparison with many churches the church is wide, without supporting arches. Also...More

Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle
époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades,
and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here,
modern day workers continue to take advantage of the
legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th
century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and
cinemas sit side by side with French bistros
predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in

Ye,s smart casual, like everywhere in Paris. You don't have to overdo it but you need to look clean and respectable!

The church is usually open daily. I don't know the exact hours but at least from 8 am to 6 pm and later if there any concert or event. If there is a wedding in progress, that would be a great time. A wedding here is... More
