There is little to see in Bateau-Lavoir except for a shop-window on the lovely Place Goudeau. But, it's worth passing by remembering the incredible role the then shabby building played in early 20th century art history. At the beginning of the 20th century, Paris was...More

Now a private residence, we were not able to go in. The window in front explained the history and significance. The square (more of a circle) was neat and the ambience inspiring.

I am aware of the historical connection of this building to quite a number of later-famous artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but really, from the outside, it's just a big hulking structure. Walk by if you're in the area, as we...More

Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and
styles which changes from one street to another. Ride
the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the

Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The
church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano
bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers
thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy
