Encompasses the history of Bastia and the surrounding area and it’s links with the rest of the world. Large airy galleries with plenty of information boards in multiple languages. The roof garden is a must see, and the views from the garden down into the...More

Well worth the walk up through the city to the Citadel, this museum, housed in the former Genoese governor's palace is a real treasure house. It is HUGE so allow plenty of time for a stroll through its many rooms, on several levels. (Access can...More

The museum is well set out and of modern design. It covers the whole history of Bastia (even some WW2 items) in a number of different rooms set over several levels. There was a lack of English information, but it wasn't so difficult to follow...More

This museum is directed at French speakers only...no English or any other language. Fair enough I guess, but when you can't read the plaques etc it's impossible to get much out of a visit.

Surprise of the holiday! We'd gone exploring round the old town, and decided to pop in. For only €5 each, which included a translated copy of text in each room, it was a bargain. Really informative with some very interesting and beautiful things. Going down...More

The museum was closed during normal opening times, without notification on the website. I think more respect for visitors is due.

Wonderful exhibits of the history of Corsican and Bastia. Very well laid out. Could be more amenable to English speaking persons.

The museum is in the old part of Bastia and it is a delight. Sadly, I only speak English with a smattering of French, but was given an extensive explanation of the exhibits in English. It really helped . The exhibition shows the history of...More

Worth a visit if you find yourself in the citadel (which is not to be missed!) The museum has lovely displays and an interesting collection, including many historical items that provide the visitor a good sense of the history of Corsica and Bastia.
