Nice little town on the banks of the river Loire. Prosperity must have been gained from trade on the water. The town kept its identity and is just fine for a day of walking, shopping, wining and dining. The contrast with nearby Paris couldn't be...More

this was a genuine surprise and the old town of Orleans was reminiscent of old Tudor looking towns of England such as Canterbury and York. We very much enjoyed the trip on the 'petit train' where information in English was given about the town. Well...More

One thing I noted about Orleans is how quiet and clean it was. Easy to walk around and enjoy the old parts of the city. Plenty of pubs everywhere so it must have a student population. It also has a few great Michellan star restaurants...More

The old city of Orleans contains many fine buildings and churches and has an ambient atmosphere. One of the narrow streets has fantastic graffiti representing the voice of the future. Unfortunately, most of the restaurants and bars are tasteless, a mismatch with the beautiful surroundings.

The central of Orléans with narrow stoned streets is not very large but really beautiful. The are no cars and pedestrians can choose from several restaurants and small shops. Best part of city by far.

Sorry for the late reply, have been travelling a lot lately. Shops usually close around 18:00 in the downtown core. Some grocery / convenience stores are open until 19:00 or 20:00
