I got engaged in a rose garden in Loches, so i'm biased :) Its a beautiful French town, you feel like you've entered another era. I would effeminately go back!

Take 2-3 hours to walk to the 2 castles, churches etc. All slightly uphill with a nice view from the top. Lots of history here as well. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

The cobbled streets lead you to a Church which has a sad tomb for Agnès Sorel, wonderful stained glass windows hold you for a while. Then off to the Donjon - The Castle Keep that was also used as a State Prison. This is a...More

The castle was interesting and not crowded, but part of it (including the dungeon) were being renovated and inaccessible to the public, which was disappointing. Parking is difficult at best. We wanted to have lunch in the Royal City, but we were parked on the...More

We visited while touring the Loire valley. The town has a Chateau which isn't as nice as many in the area, but the town itself is interesting. It also makes a decent base to see things in the Loire valley area.

Nice and active little town with a nice castle. The "Cité Royale" is great place to visit. There are good and various restaurants around for all budgets (traditional, local, chinese, Italian, Sushi and so on)

Loches is ideally located within easy driving distance of most chateaux and wineries. We spent three nights and enjoyed the restaurants, shops, Saturday market and experience of staying in a charming small town.

Very thoughtfully and carefully maintained. This is an excellent afternoon visit. It was a lot more interesting than I had originally thought it would be.

This is a beautiful town in the Loire Valley with several great places to visit and some great restaurants too. The Donjon was pretty incredible (unless you have a fear of heights then it is just terrifying =). The Royal Chateau and the Lansyer Museum...More
