We went on the Mussee anime tour. The owner asks your language and a you walk through a basement and go through wine making in the region. This is not a Musee in the traditional sense and may seem rather dated, some of the manakins...More

We stopped in for dinner because it was recommended in the Rick Steves guide book. We were not disappointed. It's a small restaurant with a co-located museum. There is a fixed menu for dinner (19 euros per person in Oct 2016) which included a sweet...More

Go back to the smell and visuals of something slung together in the 70's. It's aweful. No, it's worse than that. I can't tell you how creepy, the man that greets you. Then it's in to something from the Hammer House of Horrors. You'll get...More

Saw the advertisement in the Saumur tourist info. Thought this as a genuine museum, but alas, it was a very dated animated walk thru. At first I thought we had been taken for 4.5 euros, but , upon reflection, where else could you see a...More

Clearly, based on comments below, some are making a mistake going for a "tour." It's a restaurant with amazing personality! The food is a regional speciality. The menu is price fixed with wine. The owner is tres magnificent - an extremely engaging communicator despite the...More

A fun experience for the adventurous sort of traveler who can appreciate the specialness and uniqueness of local characters. Quaint wine museum in the basement area with a "been there ambiance" of vin related items. Food was a mix of what the proprietor had prepared...More

We are vinophiles so this display was hilarious to us. You are shown to a basement and the owner plays a sound track to some animated figures. Some of which are broken with hilarious result. You can have a few glasses of wine afterwards and...More

I can only describe this experience as a creepy rip off. The owner takes 4,50 euros per person and shows you into a dingy cellar where broken manakins hang ominously and move like the afflicted. It would be funny if it were not also filthy...More

This place is so terrible it would be laughable except you are charged. Terrible exhibits and rude owner. The wine tasted like vinegar. Do not go. Chinon has so much to offer so steer clear.
