Picturesque Chateau just south of Amboise. Go on a sunny day and get the splendour of this place spanning the river. Inside really well organised - guide book explains each room well. There is a full history of the various Kings of France and their...More

We visited here 15 yrs ago and it is just as stunning as it was back then. I was very crowded this time, still a comfortable pace to enjoy the grounds and châteaux. Plenty of parking which is a great bonus.

We drove straight here after leaving MSM and stopping in Fougeres for lunch. Though the driving directions indicated that Chenonceaux was about an hour past Amboise where we were staying the night, it was more like 30 minutes. We arrived at Chenonceaux at about 4...More

We only had time for 1 chateau so chose Chenonceau. We had forgotten that to hire the audio tour you needed ID but the staff were accommodating with what we had on us. I must admit I would have liked to have seen more furniture...More

As chateaux go, this is particularly well maintained and fascinating for its story of five queens. Apart from being stunningly beautiful when viewed from the side across the river (the photo shot in all the publicity) it offers a good synopsis of its history and...More

I recently visited this chateau with a group of 24 friends. It is one of the loveliest chateau's that I have visited. It is stunningly beautiful and whilst very opulent it is not over the top. The stunning gallery floor which goes over the River...More

This is a really beautiful chateau built on the river Cher. Very richly decorated without being over the top. One can really feel the soft feminine touches. The gardens are extensive and the maze provides family entertainment. The self-service restaurant provides an assortment of salads...More

Originally built as a fortified mill, the chateau was later expanded to include the main building. Still later, a bridge across the river was constructed and the chateau again expanded over the bridge. Catherine De Medici, wife of King Henry II once ruled from the...More

Give yourself the best part of a day to enjoy this wonderful Chateau. If you can carry your dog, you can go inside the Chateau, however, even if you can’t, there is so much to see. You can access all of the parkland and the...More

I stayed in Amboise, a glorious medieval (and later) town quite close to Chenonceaux. Much nicer than Tours with lots of hotels, pensions, etc.. Has its own castle and fortifications, and Leanardo da Vinci lived and died... More
