My review is to provide pointers that other contributors have not covered. I visited Chenonceau by train from Paris yesterday. This was my second visit. I visited it the first time years ago on a 1-day bus tour from Paris which covered 3 chateaux –...More

Would rate this place as very, very expensive. To even enter the grounds you had to pay a fair fee. We went with 3 kids. We paid the lowest fee, 38 euro to get in, thats with lying that our 9 year old was under...More

We have visited a few chateaus in the Loire valley and this one takes the prize. The inside of the chateau is designed beautifully, providing the visitor with an historical perspective and a sense of the opulence of the inhabitants. The grounds are beautifully landscaped...More

This Chateau, in my opinion, is the best in the Loire Valley. It's history is fascinating and the rooms and gardens are wonderful to see. You can almost feel transported back in time. Give yourself plenty of time to visit this magnificent piece of history.

The first stop on my small group tour was Château was Château de Chenonceau, located on the river Cher, a tributary of the Loire, and it set the bar high. What a stunning place. It was built in the 16t Century on the site of...More

Masterpiece of renaissance in France, this jewell in the Loire valley is one of those sites no one should ever miss. Culture, history, and even so, plenty of art pieces inside, such as tintoretto, carpets, van dick, Rubens. Not to miss in a lifetime.

The chateau and gardens are large by our standards but small enough so there is a point at which crowding can diminish the experience. It would be well worth your while to plan to visit at an hour when it is not too crowded. We...More

This is a truly enchanting chateau that is artfully placed over a river. Much of the structure of the primary building is in excellent condition, and the extensive grounds are immaculate. There are flower and vegetable gardens, a labyrinth, stable, wine cellar, and of course...More

We arrived in the afternoon on an October Wednesday and enjoyed a beautiful view of the Chateau de Chenonceau. The afternoon is the perfect time to take pictures of the chateau and gardens. We also found fewer people in attendance in the late afternoon and...More

What can we say about Château de Chenonceau, it is set in a very beautiful location. It spans the Cher river and is very charming. This chateau has lots of history with women, e.g., Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de' Medici, etc. on the second floor...More

Over charged, stuffed with tourists. No explanations or audiguide. The only nice thing is the amazing view. Not recommended with children under 10

Chateau de Chenonceau is deservedly called the chateau on the water. The architecture is beautiful. Unlikely Chateau de Chambord or Chateau d'Ambiose, you can't see the chateau from the area outside the ticket office. Only after you've bought your ticket and walked a little can...More
