Loved the tour around all the wall of the old city. You can see all the good beaches around and choose the one you want to spend time on, including when the tide is up:) Worth it. #truebenji

We walked out to the fort just as the tide went out, and paid our money for admission. It's an interesting fort but has just one building on site, and that isn't open to the public. As we left, my wife was asked by someone...More

In 2018 this cost 5 euros to visit. You are given a guide in your native language to follow at your own pace to discover the history of the fort, or there are guided tours daily. I had an enjoyable 1/2 hour satisfying years of...More

This remarkable fortress is interesting as at the front of the tower are many timber structures placed in the sand at the beach. You get a good view from above.

It's quite a walk. When you get close, you have to negotiate loose rocks and broken concrete. When you finally reach the gate, you are able to read the tiny sign. 'Only opens July till September'. You look at your watch. It's only May.

We didn't go inside the fort, didn't seem to be open in March 2018. Fun place to walk out to at low tide.

Open from June to September a visit is essential. Most of the fortifications were aimed towards the old enemy Britain. Guided tours are probably a good idea but note you'll only be able to get in at low tide.

We decided to pay and go inside to see the Fort. There is a ton of stuff to see, but it is impressive none the less and a worthwhile place to visit if you are there.
