The museum has a very varied collection of works, ranging in quality. No special highlights, although the sea-related works and Brest-related painting in my view were the nicest. The atmosphere of the museum is very nice and relaxed, though. There is a good kids corner,...More

Opens as is usual with French museums at a rather tardy 10am. €5 entrance fee for an adult. Apart from some decent naval and maritime pieces there was little of merit. Their temporary exhibits were composed of the usual meaningless abstract garbage which neither expressed...More

Not the biggest Art collection I have visited but a very worthwhile diversion. Not easy to find as it is off the main radial streets and not easily visible, but worth the trouble. 1st floor comprises a single room - large, light and airy - the...More

We had about an hour to kill with small kids and this was great, can say the kids loved it but we didn't stay long, a nice mix, and interesting historical section of the local bridge.

This is a very small museum, but there are a few pieces in the permanent collection that are worth seeing, Gauguin's friends are present, Paul Serurier, Emile Bernard, Lacombe "the scuplting Naby" ... A quick visit to the craddle of the "fauvisme"

Nothing flash or impressive but worth a brief visit. We had an hour to kill waiting for a friend and slipped in here. A middling collection but some interesting stuff. This is not an important gallery but there have been some useful purchases or donations....More

This museum displayed a selective history of Brest in oil. Paintings depicted several scenes of fishermen trying to survive stormy seas, prominent residents in prayer, and traditional religious themes from the old and New Testament. One particularly striking scene was the Port of Brest, on...More
