Lovely Boxing Day walk lots of people doing the same thing the Café was open also the pub which had a lovely gazebo outside with blankets to keep warm and tables were set out lovely dogs were welcomed a lovely afternoon walk

We booked to see the gardens with their Christmas lights. You have to book a timed ticket to prevent overcrowding. The lights are lovely but it is weather dependent

I tall depends on the children of course and how interested they are in history , we had a 16 yr old with us who loved it , if thinking of going have a look at when there are events going on which will interest them

we have English Heritage membership so we dont pay at attractions

there is a bus to the village and a short walk to the entrance of the grounds it would be easier to get a taxi as others have said if you are bothered about a walk.
