This is effectively an island at the confluence of two rivers which can be rather muddy in wet weather, and I suspect underwater at times of peak flood. it is easily accessible from the town (though not well signed) and accessed via one of two...More

We live opposite and its forever changing. Different sunsets and different animals roaming the ham. A great walk with your dogs or just walk straight across between the severn and avon.

We went for a walk along this area in September, on a sunny afternoon, having visited the Abbey. We found nature 360 degrees around us on this flat meadow by the rivers Severn and Avon. Peace & tranquility. We had an option to link the...More

Beautiful area for a walk, which can be a big circular route or just one short section. Some lovely wildflowers and grasses to be seen!

As its name suggests the Tewkesbury Ham in the centre of the town is formed by the bend of the River Severn. It is a pasture and water meadow and also effectively an island as the Mill Avon forms its other boundaries. Pleasant walk which...More

I walked the whole circuit from the mill, along the Avonside, back along the Severn and back into town. It was a warm sunny afternoon and all I could hear was birdsong! Marvellous! It's a green oasis away from the bustling town.

The Severn Ham is a curious geographical feature. Doubtless you can see various forms of animal life there, but I only saw some sheep and a few common birds. It is a flat floodplain and plays its part in the ecosystem of the area. You...More

This is the flood plain surrounded by the River Severn and the Avon navigation. Accessed by a few bridges and well marked walks around the Ham. There are wires on both waterways so differing water levels and use of imagination to see th3 floods. Lovely...More

The currents in the Severn can be quite strong so please use caution if letting your dog swim. Dogs can get into the river in many places but there’s a ‘beach’ about 100 yards clockwise from the weir which is probably the... More
