Walked through Ripley when doing a 100km, 24hr, sponsored walk so we decided to go back and see what we had missed. Was a very chilly day in early November so we paid the fee to walk around the castle grounds and gardens.
Ripley castle is more of a starlet home. Really well looked after. Wonderful paintings and furniture. The grounds are majestic and again attention to detail. The entrance fee is reasonable and the car park was free. Well preserved history for the future.
A wonderful village and estate to visit. The castle shops and tea room was still open and not to be missed !

We went on a lovely day. The guide was really interesting really engaged up with the fascinating and amusing history of the family. We also really enjoyed the walk around the gardens, the gift shop and the café. Well worth a visit.
Lovely walk around the lake and deer park, then through the woods to the glasshouse, walled garden and vegetable garden. Highly recommended now it is free to visit for the winter. Entrance is through the shop which stocks lots of lovely things ideal for gifts,...More

From the outset we found the village of Ripley a hidden treat. The castle had a warm and welcoming tea room with friendly staff. The castle visit was £10 per person for the guided tour (which is the only way to see inside the castle)....More
We went to Ripley Castle for the tour of the castle which was unfortunately closed weekdays during the winter months. We then decided to walk around the gardens to save packing up and going to another place. What a treat! Please don't let 'Gardens' put...More
We had an excellent and informative tour of Ripley Castle taking in 6 rooms and 3 floors. The guide was very knowledgeable and made the 90 minute tour very enjoyable.
