Was bought an afternoon cream tea by my daughter. Although it took just over 9 months to get booked in on the train journey it was well worth the wait. It was a beautiful sunny October day, the train was a steam locomotive and took...More

Travelling up from Dorset to Norfolk I broke my journey here and was not disappointed. Lovely station building and signal box plus a wheel operated level crossing. Tornado was a visitor which was a bonus. You can view the sheds and there is also a...More

A trip into rail history, this place is well worth a visit. On normal days it's free to enter but it's worth taking a trip on an old steam train or diesel engine along the beautiful Nene valley.

All of our pre-publicity encouraged people not to come to Wansford station as there would be no platform tickets available for spectators... instead directing them to our three other stations where spectators would be welcomed. The event was always designed to allow those who had...More

I took this train from Peterborough and really enjoyed its run through the countryside. The staff were very friendly and the ride was worthwhile.

A delightful couple of days. The Jolly Fisherman on the Friday and the Flying Scotsman on the Saturday. The Volunteers were very pleasant and helpful. On the Friday both my wife and I managed to be invited onto the footplate. Whow! Despite the crowds on...More

First of all let me start by saying what a pleasure it was to see the Flying Scotsman at my local preserved railway. Very iconic and beautiful as ever. Unfortunately I don't think its potential was realised by the NVR. One other loco working which...More

We have done many heritage railway trips but im afraid The Nene Valley Railway has a lot to be desired, the guest engines are the main attraction but are very expensive it was not as picturesque as we hoped.
