Waterford Greenway is a spectacular 46 km off-road cycling and walking trail along an old railway line which runs between Waterford and Dungarvan. From the Viking City alongside the River Suir, out by Mount Congreve Gardens, through Kilmacthomas, across eleven bridges, over three impressive viaducts and through a 400m long tunnel; with wonderful views of the Comeragh Mountains and Dungarvan Bay.

Oh how lucky are the people who live near this. Safe cycling through gorgeous countryside. We did Kilmacthomas to Dungarven on the hired bikes. A little expensive at €20 each though.

Lovely cycle route, so great to be away from cars and roads for such a distance. Mostly flat, with some gently inclines, plenty of great views along the entire route, but particularly scenic along the Kilmacthomas-Dungarvan stretch.

There are some uphill climbs and lengthy descents, but on average the path is level. The path is surrounded by beautiful scenery including: the ocean, cows, farm-land, river, tunnels, valleys, cityscapes, etc. I would recommend starting in Waterford and doing the total 47 km route.

My friend and I cycled the Greenway from Dungarvan to Waterford. Sadly it was foggy leaving Dungarvan so we missed the glorious bay & beach views but the sun soon came out and the rest of the Greenway didn't disappoint. The Coffee Dock in Kilmacthomas...More

Walked a long section of the greenway yesterday. Beautiful day, beautiful walk. Only little niggle was how few cyclists rang their bells to say they were going to pass us. Thanks to those who did. One query - trying to find how to access the...More

I was lucky enough to do this trail on the first really fine day this Spring. Starting from Waterford, the first section goes alongside the River Suir. The first refreshment stop is at Kilmeaden, where you can buy snacks in an old railway carriage. Toilets...More

Start of in dungarvan. You will see all the coast and the big huge tunnel. The next town then is kilmacthomas. This is where flahavans porridge is made.
