The cathedral was designed by George Goldie between 1869-75. The exterior uses only one stone, a dark grey limestone which looks dull even when the sun is out. The interior is more attractive, but the detailing is heavy. There is no entry charge- but you...More

Beautiful peaceful place to reflect and pray. Your first view inside is the stunning stained glass windows, which throw a lot of light in. It’s very large inside and I immaculately kept. Well worth seeing both inside and out.

The cathedral is conveniently located downtown and, unfortunately, charges for parking. If you come mid day there will be plenty of spaces. The building itself is quite impressive.

Sligo Cathedral is worth a stop...prayerful, colorful, spacious and centrally located for some midday peace or 2 hour adoration..

While driving through Ireland we came across this lovely old cathedra opened in 1874. It is well maintained and cared for and beautifully decorated inside. It felt a very peaceful place.
