Hard to believe there are so megalithic tombs in this fairly confined area. Well worth a visit, close to Strandhill & Sligo.

This is kind of off the beaten path, but still very close to Sligo. Huge site where all the mounts and circles are connected by pathways. We opted to walk ourselves with a map which is provided for free for a small collateral. We really...More

I was awestruck walking around the large site on a hot sunny June day. Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The main attractions did not disappoint. We did not have a guided tour, but paid a small returnable deposit for the use of a laminated...More

My mum and I had a guided tour here at Carrowmore, and it was great! The tours start hourly and if you’re early, you could cross the road opposite to get a walk around the other tombs as we did. The guy at the counter...More

There's a parking spot in front and a wagon, offering drinks. And, probably as the weather was really good during our stay, one of the staff sat down and began to play some music. Inside there's an area filled with information, and you can either...More

Overlooked by most this is a real hidden gem.About 10 minutes drive out of Sligo town it is well worth a 1/2 hour to hour visit. Plenty of history and things to look at with good parking. Not crowded.

Due to adding this stop onto our agenda and the admission fee, we opted to only view and take some photos from the car park. Looks interesting, but I had just climbed Knocknarea and visited Queen Maeve's Tomb, so we passed on going in. Worth...More

what tour guide? Tour guides at Carrowmore are all employees of the Office of Public Works and most of them have a degree in archaeology, history or heritage.
