It's a magnificent ancient site. It's a shame that much of it was destroyed through time, but they did a fine job preserving the remaining ruins.

We had a great visit to the Cairns and tombs scattered throughout the site. The visitor centre had a small but very useful exhibition. They also lent out guides to the site which were very informative.

Hard to believe there are so megalithic tombs in this fairly confined area. Well worth a visit, close to Strandhill & Sligo.

what tour guide? Tour guides at Carrowmore are all employees of the Office of Public Works and most of them have a degree in archaeology, history or heritage.
