Excellent guided tour of the castle (60mins) Not too touristy. The town is also very nice and quaint allowing an easy stroll to visit.

The castle is only open via guided tours, so you can't just wander around. Having said that, I certainly recommend the tour. Very informative, taking just the right amount of time. Well worth the small cost.

This a great tour if you're in Adare during the right time of the year. The groups are small and intimate and the scenery and history are outstanding. Our tour guide was awesome, and she made the tour outstanding.

I highly recommend taking the Heritage Center tour in Adare to Desmond Castle. Our guide, Sandra, was incredibly knowledgeable and the story of the castle is fascinating. One of the few examples of a Norman castle in Ireland. You can't gain access unless you are...More

This was "Strongbow's" castle. He was a Norman prince, whose family had long been resident in England, and had been invited by an unseated local king to come to Ireland to help him regain his throne. Just like in a fairytale, he was promised a...More
