This is a beautiful, well-preserved castle in the quaint city of Kilkenny. It's definitely worth going to and since it's in the heart of the city, it's easy enough to walk there from the hotels in the city center.

As we only had limited time in Kilkenny we weren't able to go inside but just walking around the grounds was great.

Very nice to see and then walk the grounds, which are now a public park. We met a few locals out enjoying the grounds and they were so friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the time.

The castle has been renovated to be in line with look of its last functioning use in 1935. Very interesting and well worth a visit if I.Kilkenny.

We began with an informative video that told us a lot to expect about the castle and its evolution over the years. This set us up to be more informed when we visited the "insides" of the castle. We learned about the families who were...More

A fairly cheap ticket (20 euros for a family) to look round a reasonably interesting castle. Lacked the interaction for a younger audience... however the grounds are accessible for all free of charge and are simply amazing

I was very much looking forward to visiting Kilkenny Castle and I came away bitterly disappointed. They could do so much more with this fabulous piece of history. I came away knowing very little about the history of the castle, the families involved, etc...barely anything...More
