This is the tallest High Cross in Ireland with remarkably detailed images which are explained on accompanying panels. It is off the beaten track, but well worth finding.

We had a hard time finding this site, but glad we kept searching. We parked right on the road, said hello to the horses nearby, then climbed through the stone "gate" and walked down the short path to the monastery ruins and the 10th century...More

Beautifully located beside an old graveyard the High Moone Cross gives you goose pimples at first sight. You really can feel the history of this cross by touching it.

As with some other reviewers, it took a bit of searching for us to locate the site. The cross is well-restored and the information boards at the exhibit are well done. Some interesting old headstones are located next to ruins.
