Directly across the street from our Killarney Plaza Hotel, and it being just past mid-afternoon, St. Mary's commands a prominent 3-corner location. This was our visit upon checking into our room and receiving our bags from the bell staff. St. Mary's, not to be confused...More

Thank you. As you say "a prominent location". This is the parish church of the Church of Ireland here in Killarney. The church is built on the ancient spiritual site in the heart of the community. An "anchor" location indeed; that reminds me of the...More

We welcome all visitors to our fund-raising concerts. Our concert season is picking up; during June we have 15 concerts scheduled. The calligraphy or sacred texts written around the edges of the walls are fine examples of the "Protestant" trend for decoration. It was a...More

We just happened to go in and were pleasantly surprised. Quite a pretty church. I though the organ was really nicely placed and painted - fit the church well. I am glad we walked in to it. I chuckled at the amiable woman!

Great to know you got more than you expected. It's not often a visitor sees that memorial inscription and spots the typographical error of the stone mason. For those who haven't seen it the inscription reads "aimable" when it means "amiable"!

This is an impressive church both inside and outside and the architecture and the glass work is excellent to see. It is easy to get to in town and open to all for viewing and you don't have to be religious to enjoy this church...More

This is the Protestant St. Mary's in Killarney but the architecture is just as beautiful and well worth a visit even if you're not particularly religious.More

Thank you for your review. Yes, there are two St Mary's in town. Our Church is on the ancient spiritual site in what is now the centre of the town. Previous churches on this site—prior to the Reformation—date back into the earliest Christian times. When...More

Thank you for your comments. In comparison with the wider context, St Mary's Church is really quite ornate for a Church of Ireland Church, with its full set of stained glass windows and the stylish decoration of the walls. Whereas, St Mary's Cathedral is really...More

Ha! there you go. Location, Location, Location! We'll work on the idea of a brochure. Our little free leaflet—available at points within the church—contains a floorpan and some idiosyncratic explanations of certain features in the church. In the meantime, visit our Facebook page—@churchofthesloes.ie—for our concerts...More
