This is in the center of everything and a great museum describing the early history of Ireland. It is worth a visit just for the display of ancient metal jewelry. If you are not too sensitive to the slightly bizarre, the display of bog mummies...More

I found this museum fascinating. It allowed you to see pieces of Irish history. I found the gold ornamental jewelry fascinating. There is so many artifacts from the Bronze Age and before. The museum is free but they do have a collection point for donations....More

We spent 2-3 hours at this museum and it was well worth the visit. A great way to spend a morning or afternoon. There are some very interesting exhibits this summer (Aug 18) and it’s excellent value as entrance is free!!

Viewing the Iron Age bog bodies & the link with rituals from the Iron Age was an amazing archaeological finding-have never seen anything like it. The museum building is itself a beautiful piece of architecture. Great history of the Vikings as well.

I did not see tour guides when I was there. However, it is a small museum and you can easily pursue your own interests by following the printed museum map.
