Lots of relics but difficult to understand the flow to the place. However I did visit without a guide book. I found the bog men and women absolutely fascinating and what has been determined from them. Well worth a visit and free entry of course.

While wandering around Dublin on a port call from our cruise ship, we stumbled upon the National Museum of Ireland. Not too large, but several very interesting exhibits and it was free!

I did not see tour guides when I was there. However, it is a small museum and you can easily pursue your own interests by following the printed museum map.
