Touring is always a part of my vacations, but nothing compares to this library. I wish this was more advertised. This entire place brought me more and more interest and awe. The man was a very unique man, and obviously a forward thinker. I am...More

Because some other places in Dublin are so better known (or advertised), the Chester Beatty Library is easy to miss out: DON'T!! It's got the most comprehensive collection of illuminated books I've ever seen, all organised according to the various cultures they come from and...More

"Library" is not what I expected. This is a collection of rare Asian and Islamic manuscripts and books that you would expect to see in a world renown museum. The fact that this was a private collection and beneficially made public is extraordinary to say...More

This was by far my favorite museum in Dublin. It was not super crowded and the manuscript collection, focusing on texts from all the world's religions, was exceptional in breadth and quality. The manuscripts are as good as the Book of Kells, and this place...More

If you like old books, be sure to stop here. The collection is amazing and inspiring and the books are intricate. It's a museum not so much a library though. They ask for a donation but do not charge a fee to enter.

I saw pictures online of th beautiful library... only to find out that that space is only for researchers at specific hours. The exhibits were still impressive, especially the fragments of the first bound book of all 4 gospels and Acts, and some illuminated manuscripts....More

I was overwhelmed not only with the works themselves, but also with the display of the collection. Give yourself at least an hour, more if possible, and take your time. This was my favorite experience in Dublin, hands down.

One of the reasons of my visit. Read about the man, his life and his collection. I guess I did this review already.

Unfortunately there is not external visitor parking at Dublin Castle. There are a good number of sites to park in central Dublin within walking distance of the museum.
