The ruin and the garden are lovely. It’s sad that a group must have used it for a party and left garbage on the ground. The roses were blooming and except for the one spot is well maintained. This is located in downtown Carlow which...More

Seeing the castle reminds of the stupidity of humans. The story goes that the owner of the castle wanted to move the walls - using Dynamite! Ignorant of what the out come would be. Well the sad fact is only one side of the castle...More

I was looking forward to see another castle during my visit in Ireland, and I actually didn't expect to see only one wall standing there - still impressive and has a great history. I simply wouldn't call it a "castle" cause it isn't.

Stumbled across this site as we were in Carlow to research our ancestry. Not much left of the original structure but it has beautifully maintained grounds with plaques with its history.
