This is a great walk on any day of the week and offers the best view of the palace. Always something to see and sure to meet nice people.

When the weather is good I try and go for a walk around the loch, always feel better afterwards with the nice scenery and the people fishing in the the boats and the swans add to the calmness.

This can be a pleasant walk round the loch but there a few places that can become quite muddy in winter. No steep climbs.

Walking around this Loch and Palace was a very peaceful and special time. The birdlife is abundant and going by the fishermen there are plenty of fish as well. Watching the sun go down over the water was beautiful.

It's about 2 1/2 miles to walk round the loch, but it's generally a flat and well-maintained path (apart from a slight hill by the Palace) and there's so much to see, not just on the loch itself but in the various activities going on...More
