Visited in our campervan and we were going to stay the night until we arrived and found out we would be pitching in a car park! Don't know why the field by the water wasn't available so we moved on. Not before we had had...More

This beach is one of the best on the island. Soft white sands and turquoise waters. Doubt you'll ever get to sunbathe here but great for a walk and some stunning photos. Made more interesting by the fact the Chessman were found here and the...More

Stayed at Carnish Lodge what a brilliant experience it was. The lodge is situated at the edge of the beach. The dog just loved running on the sands. It was home from home. It is a bit isolated but brilliant for the wild life. The...More

I find the story of the Lewis Chessmen fascinating that somewhere on this vast beach these remarkable chess pieces were found. The first thing you come to it is this impressive statue, the inscription reads thus: “This sculpture, carved in oak by Stephen Hayward was...More

Like many beaches on the island there is a car park and toilet block. Beautiful wide sandy beach with different views at every change of tide and light.

Sometimes when you set of on a journey you wonder if it is worth it. The road from Stornoway is a bit like that, especially the last three or four miles of even by highland standards mixed single track roads. At one point you think...More

Wow! What a beach, long stretch of golden sand with lovely shells. Tide was out when we visited so long way to the sea. Toilets available nearby.

This is the most beautiful beach we have ever visited anywhere we’ve been in the world so far! It sounds like and exaggeration but honestly it is stunning! We found little hidden beaches through the rocks and had fun on the sand dunes

Unless you’ve actually been here, it’s difficult to appreciate the beauty of the vast expanse of white sand that is Uig Bay. Even in the wind and rain it’s fabulous so with the sun and blue skies it must be heavenly. Need I say more?

We stayed last night and it wasn't a problem. There is a hill to the left which maybe makes it a little sheltered.

There is a small campsite but not very well advertised. You turn down at the the sign for "beach and toilets" right down the road to the bottom. There are facilities like toilet shower drinking water although I didn't use... More
