Iolaire sails twice daily from Iona at 9.45am or1.45pm OR from Fionnphort at 10am or 2pm. The trip lasts 3 hours and you can get on or off at Fionnphort or Iona. The Iolaire is a brown wooden boat and returns to Fionnphort first at 1pm or 5pm and then to Iona 10 minutes later. The sea journey takes 45 minutes and en route a wide variety of sea life may be observed. Once at Staffa a commentary is given and Fingal's Cave can be seen from the Iolaire. Passengers are landed weather permitted and given at lease one hour ashore which allows time to walk into Fingal's Cave or up the ladders to see the puffins when they are in season. There is always something exciting to see and the crew will be happy to welcome you on board the Iolaire.

The staff was friendly, knowledgable and also stopped the boat when we saw dolphins swimming in the sea so the people could take a photo. They gave us around 45 minutes of free time on the island itself after we drove halfway around it and...More

We are happy also that you didn’t get sick on the boat and that your friend performed in the Cave for the BBC. Thanks for your kind words about your day out and for telling us.

Staffa Trips offers a fun boat ride to the Isle of Staffa where puffins nest and breed, with apparently no fear of humans. The ride was from the Isle of Iona and took us over lovely seas to the isle with the puffins and a...More

Thanks for reviewing your trip to Staffa to see Fingal's Cave and the puffins, I'm afraid they have packed their bags and flown away for the winter, but they will be back next year. Good wishes from the Scottish Seas.

What a way to see island life plus puffins, Iona, Mull. The puffins are so tame you can sit next to their buŕrows and photograph them.
