Lake of Menteith is a majestic lake located in the Trossachs National Park in Scotland. There is small island in this lake that was used as a refuge for Mary Queen of Scots as an infant. Beautiful and tranquil. Jolly Chriss.

Just dropped in for coffee. One of my favourite small hotels. The food has always been superb and the new menu looks fabulous. Jamie and his team as attentive, professional and friendly as ever!

When visiting, don't miss the opportunity of travelling on the ferry to the priory ruins on the island.

Ferry sits 12 people. Get there early as the last ferry is 4:15pm. The Priory is good. Read the signs and see the Abbey and ruins. Take a walk around the island. Last ferry leaves island at 5pm. Enjoy it!

A pleasant spot in lovely scenery, being Scotland's only lake. Unfortunately no ferry available so we couldn't visit the priory. Maybe next time!

You will need to rent a canoe from next to priory launch. I'd take the ferry that Historic Scotland supplies you. Parking is free next to Historic Scotland priory place...
