After a good show and night in Pitlochery we decided to stroll across towards Loch Faskally. Definitely WOW factor! We loved the breathtaking scenery and tranqulity of the entire area. Total escapism!

We walked from Pitlochry up past the Greenpark Hotel and round the top end of Loch Faskally, continued round past the dam and fish ladder. Passing Pitlochry Theatre we crossed the river over the suspension bridge and back to Pitlochry centre. A pleasant walk on...More

Beautiful, very peaceful place . Our hotel, the Greenpark Pitlochry overlooks it . It's possible to walk around the area and it has a small fairly basic cafe and boat house. Lovely in summer but still very relaxing off season.

It's a pleasant walk around Loch Faskally with easily accessible paths. It's a pity that the A9 is there, it disturbs the tranquility.

Pleasant loch, nice walk right round it from Pitlochry. The busy A9 goes over part of it and it is quite enclosed.Best view of it is actually from the A9 itself as it crosses high over this small loch IMO but it's difficult to stop!

We'll be arriving at the Atholl Palace Hotel in August as part of a CIE coach tour. We arrive at 3:30 and if possible I'd like to walk to the dam/visitor's center, green suspension bridge and Loch Faskally and back to the hotel by 7 pm when dinner is served. Google maps is very confusing and when I type in Loch Faskally, it just shows a trail on the opposite side of the river from the main town with some trees and a glimpse of water in the background. It also has me walking past the dam visitor's center instead of stopping at it. I'd show the google maps link but it won't let me. Can someone please give me clear directions from the hotel to provide the best photo ops, save time/backtracking and avoid walking on busy highways? Do I need to access the loch from the opposite side of the river near the Pitlochry Boating Station? If I run out of time, how far do I need to walk to have some nice views of the loch? Thanks for your help.

Yes you have plenty of time to fit these in. When you arrive at your hotel they will have the local map of walks in the area which will let you make a number of choices. You could walk through the woods (black spout) and... More
