We've been coming to Aviemore for years and not yet walked in this area until this year. We easily found the walkway under the A9 from the back of Macdonalds Highland Resort and checked out the route options on the other side. We had a...More

Starting point was not very far from what we stayed (high range chalet). There was Loch Puladdern on the way and many heather flowers through the forest. Aviemore can be seen from the hill and on the other side, some lochs can be seen. It...More

Park in the Youth Hostel car park (free), and follow the path under the A9 to this reserve. Good level of wildlife considering its close porximity to the busy road and town. The further up you go, the less impact the noise from the road...More

Well worth the trip up. We parked at the Aviemore Hostel, in the adjacent free car park and headed off up the signposted path. It was a 4.4km or 2.7 miles round trip and we enjoyed the variety of environments we encountered and the great...More

Did this hill (quite steep) on the day of arrival as a gentle (!) introduction to the Cairngorms. Great views from the top which is bare. Lovely woodland walk up there. Slippery when wet.
