We did this trail in June and it was quite tough in places, (Ballindaloch to Grantown). It was a little disappointing that some days you were walking many KM's away from the river! I understand that in places the trail had been washed away by...More

I only walked a short part of the path from the centre of Aviemore - about 2 hours round trip. The path seems well maintained and was in good condition even after very heavy rain. I would go further the next time.

We walked only a short section - Boat of Garten to Aviemore - starting with a steam train journey in the other direction this made for a great morning out. Very easy walking mostly on cycle-paths. Peaceful and with lovely scenery.
