we found the beginning less interesting, as the scenery didn't change so much, but after ascending after Fort Augustus, we had wonderful views of Loch Ness, and even Ben Nevis. I hate uphill, but it was all worth it. we were blessed with great weather.

Our family only had time to do a small section (near Urquart castle) but it was a beautiful walk, gentle hills and well-maintained path, with occasional views of Loch Ness.

We have done quite a few long distance paths now and the Great Glen Way matches up with the best. Relatively "tame" walking in Scottish terms,. No struggling through heather or bog but the scenery is second to none and we felt peacefully away from...More

We completed the WHW last year with our 4 children. This year, sans youngsters, we were determined to return to Scotland. An excellent FlyBe BHX-INV flight and a short bus ride to Fort William and we were ready to go. Stunning scenery, no midges. It’s...More

Travelling from Inverness to Glasgow we couldn't have asked for a better night than this. A long Glen with beautiful sights at every kilometer. Lakes and snow-capped hills and mountains out of a picture book, a mini-Switzerland. The air was cool and clear.

Yes , search for a place called ticket to ride in Inverness. If you are travelling from the USA, be aware that Inverness airport is a great facility and has good connectivity to the larger U.K. airports.
