Visited the Citizens to see their production of Hamlet, which was really good. It was (shamefully) my first visit there for 30 years, but although the facade is totally changed, the auditorium is still as wonderful as ever.
There is an intimacy here that is very special, and the feelings are still there from before.
There is an excellent snack bar / cafe and drinks area, which is friendly and great value.
I shall not be waiting another 30 years to come back!

Was there last Saturday with my wife to see True West and have been there a few times this year to see Faustus and Taking Over The Asylum to name but a few. The Citizens is my favourite theatre in Glasgow. My wife and i have been coming here for many years and seen many plays. Do yourself a huge favour and grab tickets for a show and see what i am talking about. It has just had new seats installed and the place is looking great.

Went to see The Jungle Book with grandson. This was advertised as suitable for 6 years+, something it most certainly was NOT!!. The themes, dialogue and music were adult, at times reminiscent of very dark Shakespeare (but without any of the Bard's saving graces). The music was also very, very loud and kids were screaming in terror throughout the theatre. No doubt the play is critically acclaimed by professional reviewers but this audience member thought it was self indulgent rubbish which had forgotten its target audience ie the "6 years +" for whom it is ostensibly performed. We have supported the Citz for many years but not for a long time again after this play.

I took my 86 year old mum-in-law to see the Musical Theatre group from the Dance School of Scotland performing 'The Drowsy Chaperone' which was amazing. It is on until 19th July and I would recommend the show for anyone as it has everything, fantastic singers, dancers, comedy & acting. The Citizens is such a lovely theatre with lots of character and very comfy seating with friendly helpful staff. Perfect night out.

A theatre that is all a bit too precious. There are some good plays and some good actors in them but you get the impression that you are being done a favour by the inhabitants.

In Glasgow for work, saw "Medea" was on at the Citizens and decided to go.
The production was excellent, but I was unsettled by the walk from the underground station (Bridge St). I emerged from the station into a dark urban wasteland, punctuated by some bleak high rise tower blocks, groups of hoodies, and little else. Felt slightly intimidated as I walked alone to the theatre.
That said, the pavements were well lit and I experienced no trouble, but would have preferred a more bustling street with more people walking (let's hear it for Perth Theatre!).
Play was exciting and gripping.

Been to the Citizens a few times to see shows, all the staff are great, always friendly and helpful. Penty of places to eat before the show starts.

Went to see Hay Fever, terrific night the staff brilliant, the play very funny best way to spend an evening. Highly entertaining cast a joy, Myra Mcfadyen was just fantastic. We will be making the Citz a regular event.
