Worth a visit to see the remains of an ancient roman wall and fort. Lots to see with interesting marker boards providing information of how life used to be. Worth a visit.

large area to walk in and explore - wouldn't say the antonine wall is easy to spot! Defo worth an extension to your Falkirk wheel visit but not on its own

Visited the Falkirk Wheel and wanted to walk to the wall from the car park. Despite comments from previous reviewers we never found any signs for the wall. We walked up to the canal and under the canal bridge for a while but nothing so...More

You can see partsof the wall right in town--it's mostly just an earthenwork made by Romans in the 2nd century. Designed to keep the Picts/Caledonians out of England/Britannia, it followed Hadrian's wall in the south by several years and was mostly dirt walls with some...More

Parked at the Wheel. We used the printed map from the Falkirk Wheel Visitor Centre and got lost as it doesn't match the pathways- ask because when we walked back, it took us about 15 minutes but nearly an hour going! You have to use...More

If you've never heard of Antonine's Wall (and especially if you have), go to the Rough Castle section near the Falkirk Wheel. You can get there via the Wheel area, or you can park on the other side of the Rough Castle park area at...More

We visited the Falkirk Wheel and then walked up the path to the canal where there are signs to the Antonine Wall. Very little to see, apart from some information plaques, compared to Roman sites near Hadrian's Wall. It is a nice walk and worth doing...More

The fort is quite well signposted and is a pleasant walk up from the road. Problem is that once you get there you’re like - eh ? The outlook is good and the view of the Antonine Wall is quite amazing. However all the fort...More

We come here regularly to walk as a family and its always interesting to see the wall and the remains of the fort, along with some of the defences. Its mainly open grass and woodland, and can get quite muddy, so wear sturdy footwear.

All the above advice. There really isn't much left of the actual wall. In fact I have seen none of the wall but only plaques where the fort and wall once were. But it is a pleasant area and an easy walk to the area near... More
