Another fine statue in a statue loaded town. Well worth a few minutes of your time to understand who he was and take a quick photo. Nice backdrop of the Castle.

The Portland stone statue of D. Thomas Guthrie, preacher, philanthropist and reformer, stands on a granite pedestal, with his bible and looking down on a figure of a ragged boy. The statue stands on Princess Street facing Castle Street.

Statues & Monuments in Edinburgh follow dedication generally to war or the arts. This Statue dedicated to Thomas Guthrie is different to most in its form & style. Nicely lit for the evenings, Edinburgh Castle making an excellent backdrop
