The place is wonderfully small just like a maze! Books, books everywhere! A really book-lover could not miss to visit this shop. As soon as you open the door you feel the breath of a different time, like the dust is suspended in the air....More

Whilst visiting Edinburgh, checking out a second hand bookshop was a must, and this one looked interesting - I spotted it when passing. Inside, it is crammed with books, but not difficult to find the sections you want. The space expands in front of you,...More

An interesting and well stocked shop. However, when I paid for my book the young guy behind the desk tossed the book back across the desk to me which struck me as being rude as well as not the way to treat an old book!...More

Great bookshop, is just everything else that lets it down. They have books in there which still have the prices from other bookshops, which armchair is selling for three times the price. Then after buying three books, asked for a pound in change and was...More

Nice sci-fi and comics selection. Amazing and really helpful staff. Could spend a day in this tiny shop.

Every once and a while you can get sick in your stomach of all these too-perfect-coffee-smelling bookstores with a capitalism-version that fools the most radical hipsters. Armchair Books is truly a place where you can breathe - not excactly fresh air, but the smell of...More

Perfect little place to sit and browse, something for everyone in this aladdins cave. It's crammed to the rafters and the books are great value. It's like something out of diagon alley :-)

Second-hand bookstore with plenty of options for all readers: narrative, poetry, graphic novel, collections... It offers discount for students, although it is quite cheap by itself. Just make sure you revise the books you might be interested in, as sometimes you might find marks or...More

Ended up spending quite some time browsing over several visits here during our stay in Edinburgh. Limited room to move around due to everything being completely full of books, but finding your way is easy, selection vast and interesting, and prices more than fair for...More

My wife and I went here on our Scotland honeymoon in 2013. There are many quirky bookshops in Edinburgh. Armchair Books is probably my favorite of those we browsed. It's a small space but they've managed to cram books into every space imaginable. There's even...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
