Only on second sight did we see, you can actually eat at the place. We thought it was “just” a cheese shop. We were told we could have anything in the restaurant they have in the store. Venison pie, pork pie, olives, a delicious cheese...More

On approach to the Stockbridge shop today, there was a guy in the Mellis uniform standing outside cutting up some tasty looking offering to attract passers-by on their way to the market opposite. Given it’s a cheese shop, I asked him what he was offering....More

We did whisky and cheese tasting with cheeses from their store at the Whiski Rooms store at bank street. We went there immediately afterwards to pick up some smoked cheddar. Great place!

I happened to be in Edinburgh when the weather was suitable for picnics, and fortunately stumbled upon I. J. Mellis. The plan was to buy some cheese from there, but we ended up getting also the bread (highly recommended!), wine, prosciutto and more. A fantastic...More

We had read online that the Mellis shop in Morningside had a lounge through the back allowing you to order meats/cheeses and wine. Boom! On arrival we headed straight through to said lounge which was a smallish room decorated in a quirky fashion with some...More

Visited the one in kerr street while on a city break. Delightful old decor, huge range, very high quality cheese. Knowledgeable enthusiastic guy took time and great guidance. I am a cheese hound and loved this place.

Little cheese shop close to the Royal Mile. Amazing selection of local, Scottish cheeses and imported ones. Also have some very good artisan charcuterie, preserves and crackers to go with the cheeses. The staff there are happy to help, offer tastings and advice to cheeses...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
