Tucked away just minutes from Princes Street, you'll find Mansfield Place Church (also known as the Mansfield Traquair Centre). No longer used as a church, it is open to the public once a month (and often for much of the Edinburgh Festival period). It's also...More

Although not open every day it is well worth finding out when it is open as Phoebe Traquairs murals are a vision of arts and crafts influenced beauty and were so nearly lost. The guides are very informative about the art and the church sect...More

Stunning former apostolic cathedral. Now an events venue. Open during the festival and selected dates all year. Home of the famous Phoebe Anna Traquair murals. Breathtaking artwork and children are given a quiz to keep them occupied. Helpful staff, guided tour or look at your...More

Although its off the beaten track its well worth a visit. Beautiful moving paintings. Paintings have been restored to the highest standard. Absolutely stunning building, breathtaking. Once was a church now its a venue regularly used for wedding receptions and corporate dinners.

Just a bit out of the way for tourists (a few blocks from the Royal Mile, past the Conan Doyle Pub), and open limited hours, but well worth a visit. My artist wife wanted to see the murals, which are truly astonishing. She arranged a...More

Attended wedding at the Mansfield Traquair. Venue is truly stunning & very atmospheric. Beautiful former church is an ideal venue. Staff on the whole excellent, although the evening bar staff seemed a bit inexperienced. Highly recommended.

Attended a cocktail event at this venue ~ it was an amazing night. The Mansfield Traquair is a phenomenal experience. We tasted some yummy cocktails and it was really interesting to hear the backstory to each concoction. Food was tasty and inexpensive. Atmosphere 10 out...More

I was at a wedding in this stunning former church building. There are beautiful murals on the walls depicting religious scenes. The acoustics are a bit tricky to cope with due to the echo and would advise the use of amplification to distribute the sound...More

Well worth checking when tours are available. The painted walls are stunning, and the knowledgable guide explained the background to each image so clearly. Truly Scotland's Sistine Chapel!

Visited the Mansfield Traquair Church as it was the venue for the Whisky Fringe, so able to sample some great Malt Whiskies in fabulous surroundings. The Church is no longer used for worship (indeed it houses the SCVO Offices), but the cleared floor space can...More

Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to

have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a
mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village
