I ventured into The Parish Church of St. Cuthbert quite on accident. I was visiting Princes Street Gardens and saw a building at the end of the gardens through a gate. I first noticed the beatifully intact cemetery and admired some of the delicate details...More

We visited St. Cuthbert's after walking the length of Princess Park. It sits at the end of the park in sight of the Castle. The cemetery is the initial draw because it is laid out beautifully, with some mature pines sprinkled in with the old...More

I wanted to see St Cuthbert's, not only because it's importance to Edinburgh, but mainly because here is where Agatha Christie got married in 1930.

I doubt if there is such a tranquil well maintained churchyard like this next to a major shopping thoroughfare anywhere else in Europe. It is very beautiful and sacred place to take a stroll especially on a lovely autumnal sunny day.

Apparently, the Artisan Fair is an annual event at St. Cuthberts - and it was well worth a visit. the range of crafts and materials on view was very broad, from paintings to patchwork, leatherwork to toys. Each artisan had a nice space to display...More

Wonderful graveyard, peaceful, well kept and very interesting stones. Lovely bluebells growing everywhere. It is hard to believe you are right in the busy part of a large city. It is a little oasis of peace and quite.

It was unexpected in the bustling Edinburgh urban area to be drawn toward a wooded lane, lined with towering monuments to long dead Christians and sitting just below Edinburgh Castle, but I am glad I was. It was powerful experience and such amazing beauty &...More

I've never been able to find the church open but there are several tombs of historic characters in the Church Yard. Amongst them are the artist Alexander Naysmith and George Meikle Kemp who designed the Scott Monument on Princes Street. A short visit unless you...More

What will stick with me about St Cuthbert’s was the amazing, green moss-lined cemetery outside this church. Glimpsing views of Edinburgh icons through the trees was wonderful. Although now showing signs of its age, the cemetery is a wonderful place to reflect in peace. The...More

Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street
is only half one, since buildings only line one side.

look onto expansive and decorative public gardens
beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s
Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old
town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look
