Enjoyed this tour a lot! I was looking for something fact based with real history rather than ghost stories or anything naff, so I recommend this one. Great tour guide who added a bit of atmosphere without going at all overboard with it.
First of all, I truly want to thank you for taking us on the terror tour during our one night in Edinburgh.
You may or may not remember me, but I was the woman who was a bit shook up in the room...More
myself and my family took this trip with the guide Sven.. he was lovely and informative... the tour was spooky and interesting... the only down side was 3 guests who were clearly under the influence who kept talking through the whole tour... otherwise I would...More
We did the midday vaults tour today with Svend and it was great fun.
Although we didn’t do the ghost tour, we will still told all the stories of the ghost sightings in the vaults as well as learning the history of them.
Svend was very funny, good stories and very interesting. We booked the 12pm tour and it was good, the price was cheap. Came to Edinburgh not knowing about the volts and came out learning a lot. Good ghost stories and murder stories. Would happily do...More
Don't bother. An expensive walk around the block. We took the graveyard and vaults tours and immediately knew it was a mistake. The guide Christel was late and struggled through the history of medievel Edinburgh mixing up dates and finishing most sentences with ' you...More
Tour guide Tuesday was knowledgeable and looked after us well. The tour was quite scary and may not be suitable for those with a nervous disposition! Reasonably priced and enjoyable in a scary sort of way.
A week's holiday to Edinburgh love the city and have done this type of walk before I think for the price it was disappointing although our guide Irwin was quite informative especially about his sexuality it did little to improve the tour the best part...More
This has great potential and well set up for a good experience but the group was far too big, just over 20. One heckler in the group who was not reigned in killed the whole mood. Reading other reviews this seems to be a recurring...More
Enjoyed hearing about the history of the vaults, am not normally claustrophobic but a combo of the ghost story type information and also the dark definitely had me feeling a bit freaked out! Tour guide was Euan, very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy his job....More
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
Apologies for the late reply, but to answer the question, all the tours tell of some ghostly goings on and you may well imagine that the underground and vaults are a low lit, atmospheric and spooky place... that might not be... More
Apologies for the late reply, but to answer the question, all the tours tell of some ghostly goings on and you may well imagine that the underground and vaults are a low lit, atmospheric and spooky place... that might not be suitable for younger or impressionable visitors.
We recommend ages 15+ for our longer themed evening tours, although we have had a number younger guests enjoy the Auld Reekie Original Tour experience which lasts approx 45mins.
