A little known gem of a place. A bit out of the way but well worth the effort. An unassuming cottage doorway leads to a mysterious series of coves on which the guide gives a knowledgeable and engaging tour. The enthusiasm she generated was contagious...More

This place takes a bit of finding. Well down Drum Street there is an unassuming whitewashed cottage with a notice in the window. It is clear that nobody knows the truth of the subterranean oddity and the 'history is little more than anecdotal rumour. It...More

Delighted you enjoyed your guided tour. It usually takes visitors to advise the locals what’s on their doorstep. Super pleased. Thanks for visiting.

This hidden gem was truly amazing! We stumbled upon the website before our trip and both my husband and I wanted to go. It looks very unassuming from the outside, but once you’re inside and see the caverns it is truly amazing that these exist...More

Extraordinary caves under an innocuous little cottage. I’ve never been anywhere like this series of ‘rooms’ hollowed by hand from solid rock 100s - or perhaps 1000s - of years ago. Visited with 12 and a 14 year old nephews, both fascinated, as were the...More

Many thanks for reviewing Gilmerton Cove. I know who would believe it - very unassuming little cottage that opens up into another world. So pleased you all enjoyed your tour. Thank you :)

What a fascinating and intriguing place, this is definitely a must see (although you will leave with more questions than answers, which just adds to the mystery!) Book in advance, and wear sneakers and warm clothes. We couldn't believe that behind that simple timber door...More

Eleven of us made a big group from 13 to 76. My sister in law had booked in advance. They offered concessions for students, OAPs and carers. Very informative guides with good sense of humour. Opportunities for questions, although the history is so unknown one...More

I would say around 20 steps. Once in the cave it is flat but the ground is a bit uneven.

Not at all. It is small with low ceilings (not an issue for the wee ones 😁) but not done as a "scary" tour
