Still standing after many centuries... Visited on a bright November day. Parking easy opposite the quay and a short walk up to the Castle and grounds. We were visiting as our friends being MacDougalls, wanted to visit the castle with the MacDougall history. The castle...More

Nothing to see, waste of money, hardly anything going on inside. Just a bare area with some fallen down bricks.

Well worth a visit. The scenery is breathtaking from atop the ramparts. There are still some original features looking up from the kitchen area. The first floor fireplace has a lovely carved back plate. There are plenty of information notices giving historical events to give...More

During our stay in Oban we did a short visit to this Castle, which was nearly closed, since we were late. Pity we could not visit inside, certainly reading the history on the shiled outside.

This is a lovely castle and a great place to visit in a really lovely setting. There are info boards and the museum bit gives lots of interesting information. It a lovely place to while away an hour or so, especially in a nice day.

While this is only a small castle ruin it is really interesting and very well presented. The background story and the booklet provide a great insight into the history of the castle. The “ruins” are in sufficiently good condition that you can get a good...More
