Crarae Garden could be more accurately described as an arboretum rather than a garden, as the vast majority of the specimens are large trees. There are a number of colour coded routes around the garden, with the longer ones not being suitable for those who...More

Beautiful gardens that we’d never have thought of visiting if they hadn’t come up on Tripadvisor. Various routes with differing degrees of difficulty. Plenty parking, coffee shop and toilets. Dog friendly.

This garden must be spectacular when the rhododendrons are in flower. Sadly we were too late to see them, nonetheless it is a lovely, tranquil place to visit. There are some most unusual plants and areas have been planted creatively with some beautiful vistas to...More

This garden is just south of Inverary and is spread along a wooded gorge. It has fine azaleas and rhododendrons, a stream running through and makes for a pleasant hours` stroll along well-kept paths.

Crarae garden is a pleasant place to visit, with plenty of rhododendrons, azaleas and other acid-loving plants. But it really is nothing special when the rhododendrons and azaleas have finished flowering. The walking is a bit uphill and down dale as well. I wouldn't bother...More

Base on what we saw in Inveraray, I would assume that this garden is in a micro-climat since many of the rhododendrons had already bloomed. This being said, this a very nice gardens with lovely trails nothing very difficult. Cafe house is nice. But service...More

It was a glorious day when we visited and we took the high trail which is clearly marked. It’s such a relaxing garden with wonderful trees and tranquil mini glens. There are a few steps and be careful with small children as there are sheer...More

Returning back to our hotel on a damp afternoon I would have been prepared to miss this attraction but I'm very glad we didn't. These gardens really are worth visiting, set in a hilly terrain round a brook cascading through a gorge. You have a...More
